Learning to Dive
We run regular training courses throughout the year, from teaching novices to scuba dive in open water for the first time, through to more advanced courses and qualifications for our our more experienced members. Most training takes places on Tuesday club nights, with classroom based lessons from 7pm followed by lessons in the pool until 9pm. Initial open water training is conducted at inland diving centres, usually
Stoney Cove
in Leicestershire.
As we are a club, not a professional dive school, we have the flexibility to schedule training to your needs and abilities - missed lessons can be repeated, and as much time as necessary can be spent on skills in the pool and open water to ensure that both you and the intructor feel confident in your ability. The branch also has equipment available for members to use during pool training, and being a club means that there is always likely to be someone willing to lend kit for your initial open water dives. We do however recommend purchasing your own personal equipment for open water use as soon possible - you'll be safest and most comfortable diving in equipment that you know well, fits you well, and is well maintained. But don't worry - you'll find there's no shortage of club members willing to share their experiences, recommendations and expertise when it comes to choosing the right gear! For more details about the different levels of training we offer, or how to get started, send us a message. |
